5:00 | Bellarmine 6 vs. #2 Notre Dame 11 | Notre Dame Recap (ACC) |
|
All rankings based off the USILA Week 2 Poll.
Beasts Of The Day.
-
Notre Dame's defense. Bellarmine actually kept it rather close in the first half and made things a bit toasty early in the second when they cut the Irish lead to 4 points. However, Notre Dame's defense shut down any hopes of a comeback. Notre Dame's relentless pressure on clear attempts and increased intensity on the defensive end resulted in 12 Bellarmine turnovers in the 3rd and 4th.
The Knights had 7 TOs in the 3rd alone when they had a chance to make things interesting. The Irish stopped Bellarmine from going on a run and limited the visitors to one goal in the 4th quarter.
- Chase Rose, Bellarmine. Anyone who watched the game must have been impressed with Chase's effort in goal for the Knights. Rose had 11 saves on the day and a few really nice ones in the second half. However, some inopportune TOs after those saves limited Bellarmine's ability to really capitalize on Rose's strong play today.
Hitters List.
- Eddy Lubowicki. Lubowicki had a great game today, finishing with 4 goals on only 6 shots. Irish fans were probably a bit concerned when Bellarmine cut it to 2 early in the 2nd quarter (4-2). But Lubowicki answered with a couple quick goals (3 Gs in first half) to help Notre Dame go into intermission with a 5 goal lead (8-3)
