The Outlaws return to the MLL championship game for the 6th time in franchise history after defeating the NY Lizards 20-17 in a wild one in Fairfield, CT. While the game was back and forth in the first half and NY was able to tie it late in the 3rd, the Outlaws were able to hold on for the shootout victory over the defending champs.
BOSS O’Hara was quite pleased with the effort.
“It was a tremendous effort all over the field by an amazing group of guys that had their backs against the wall to find a way week after week to pull off some victories against some awfully tough teams. They did it again today in some really oppressive heat conditions. I couldn’t be more proud.”
The Outlaws are on an absolute tear, winners of their last seven games, and have been the hottest team in the MLL the last few weeks of the regular season. Rookie of the year and former Brown Bears standout, Jack Kelly, was at it again, finishing the game with 24 saves. While Kelly was named the player of the game, former Notre Dame star, Matt Kavanagh, put in work yesterday as well, finishing with five goals.
The Lizards went out just like a defending champ is supposed to - guns blazing. NY was led in scoring by Paul Rabil & Rob Pannell who both had 2 goals & 3 assists. Denver moves on to the MLL championship game at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, GA. The Outlaws will be competing for their second title in franchise history (Denver won the MLL title in 2014).
