As part of our summer offseason, we're going to do a 2017 scouting report on every team in D1. We'll mostly look at what teams lost to graduation, guys coming back, conference standings,  and their overall outlook for 2017. We're starting this series with the soon to be newest kid on the block, @CSUVikingsLax.

2017 Scouting Report: Cleveland State Vikings.

Ed. Note: Since the Vikings have yet to play a D1 game, there's not much to say about their 2016 season. In light of that fact today we're going to mostly check out the coaching staff, see how CSU is doing filling out the roster,  and highlight things to keep keeping an eye out for this summer.

Staff: Shortly after their March 2015 announcement that they were going live in 2017, CSU named Dylan Sheridan BOSS of the newly formed Vikings. Sheridan was a former assistant at Princeton and Denver before joining CSU. At Denver, Sheridan helped the Pios reach 3 Final Fours in 2011, 2013 and 2014. By 2014, Denver named Sheridan its Defensive Coordinator; Sheridan led the unit to a top 10 ranking nationally, number 1 ranking in the Big East, and helped Denver get to its 3rd Final Four in 4 years.

Andy German was named assistant coach shortly after the Sheridan hiring. German, a 2008 Villanova graduate, and former captain and 2-year midfield starter of the men's lacrosse team, was an assistant coach at Villanova for 4 years.  Additionally, he became the head coach of the St. Joe's HS boy's lacrosse team here in Philly in 2015. German helped lead the team to a 19-6 record that season and was an OT loss away from the state title before stepping down to take the CSU assistant job last summer.

Most recently, the team brought on former Maryland All-American goalie, Kyle Bernlohr, as an assistant coach. Kyle's accolades as a Terp are numerous and getting a player of his caliber on staff adds instant legitimacy. Kyle is a native of Akron, Ohio as well, which only further ingratiates the team with the city and surrounding community.

Roster: While the link for a proper roster page is not up yet, the team has been posting articles about every single guy that has joined the team on their news page. Through May 2, 2016, there have been close to 40 guys added to the list.

2017 Schedule: Not up yet.

What are they doing this summer : Looks like the Vikings were in my neighborhood recently, which is always great to see!

Additionally, the team is hosting a prospect clinic in late July.

2017 Outlook: Things are obviously going to be rough at the beginning for any new program, but it looks like CSU has the foundation in place to maybe be competitive in a few years like Marquette, Richmond, or High Point.

The team has a solid coaching staff, and it looks like they haven't had a problem filling out the roster. I'll definitely keep an eye on them and look forward to checking out their initial schedule, but I like where Cleveland is going so far.

Non-Sequitor: Hopefully Lebron wins tonight, and game 7. I want to see King James and trophy at a Vikings Fall Ball game in October.  #BeatGSW
