College Crosse Preview.
- Marquette vs. Duke. HUGE non-conference match-up as both teams could greatly improve their at-large resumes with a win tonight. The Golden Eagles looked extremely tough taking Notre Dame to OT last week, and will need a similar effort tonight against the Blue Devils.
Duke, as has been demonstrated this season, is not a lock at home. However, they are coming off a big win over UVA, which punched their ticket to the ACC tournament. I expect MU to face a loose and confident Duke team tonight. This should be a great game.
- Loyola vs. Army. Another big game tonight, as both teams need a win to secure the #2 seed in the Patriot League tournament and receive a first round bye. Loyola has been on a roll the last month, but Army has a top-10 offense and should be extremely focused tonight after their OT loss to Navy last week. I think this one is going to be a brawl.
- Holy Cross vs. Boston U. The Patriot League tournament begins tonight for both teams as the winner gets the 6th seed in the Patriot League tournament. While BU has been a bit up and down this season, the Terriers have also been in and out and of the top-20 polls throughout the season and took down Navy earlier this year. It'll be very difficult for HC to win tonight if BU plays to their capabilities.
While their record may not reflect it, Holy Cross is a sneaky dangerous team. Now .... they are 3-10 and as we all know, there are no moral victories in lacrosse. However, they've lost 3 games by 1 goal/in overtime and another game by 2 goals and the key for Holy Cross seems to be getting to double digits. HC is 3-3 when they get to at least 10 goals, w/2 of those losses coming against Loyola and Harvard by 1 point each. The Crusaders are on a bit of a roll having won their last two games, but they'll need to empty the tank to beat a BU team tonight.
- Penn State vs. Rutgers. I don't need to oversell this one as it's JERSEY(!!!!) vs. PA, however, I will add that this game has monumental conference implications as a PSU loss and OSU win against MD this weekend would drop the Nittany Lions to 5th in the B1G. Additionally, Rutgers can all but lock up a 2 seed in the B1G tournament with a win tonight. This should be a great one.
(Ed. Note: What up, Mr. Delaney?! I see you! #NorthEastMarket)
Games start at 7:00. I'll see you out there!
