There may not be a better metaphor for conference tournament play.

Anyway, there are 13 games today. Here are your highlights:

  • Atlantic Sun Tournament: Mercer enters the tournament as the one-seed -- and host -- for the first -- and only (the Atlantic Sun will transition its lacrosse concern to the Southern Conference next season) postseason Atlantic Sun Tournament. • Northeast Conference Tournament: St. Joseph's enters the tournament as the one-seed -- and host -- for the NEC Tournament, a field headlined by the Hawks and Bryant. THE FACEOFF gives you an infographic on the tournament and these words fill in the blanks.
  • MAAC Tournament: Siena enters the tournament as the one-seed after an undefeated MAAC regular season campaign. Marist is the host of the tournament -- the playoff's two-seed -- and anarchy is expected to run free throughout the three games. • Big East Tournament: Denver enters the tournament as the one-seed in its first season in the league, having run through the Big East with little issue. Eyes are focused on the conference's tournament due to potential NCAA Tournament bubble implications and concerns over whether the Pioneers will make The Big Barbeque if Denver fails to win the league's automatic bid. THE FACEOFF gives you an infographic on the tournament and these words fill in the blanks.
  • America East Tournament: Albany travels to Stony Brook for the America East Tournament as the league's top seed and a chance to ensure participation in the NCAA Tournament. The Great Danes are a heavy favorite on Long Island, but UMBC, Binghamton, and Stony Brook are looking to knock Albany down a peg. • ECAC Tournament: Fairfield enters the tournament as the one-seed but the Stags will face a challenge from host Ohio State and Air Force for the league's crown. The ECAC looks like a one-bid league this season, putting pressure on the playoff's participants make a run at Jesse Owens Stadium.
