THE FACEOFF: 2015 NCAA Lacrosse Tournament Play-In Round

The NCAA Tournament starts with the play-in games.

Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

The journey to Philadelphia begins for four teams tonight. For the second straight year, the bottom four RPI-ranked automatic qualifiers will square off for the right to face one of the top two seeds in the first round.

As Bryant proved last year, a win in this round can propel you to a massive upset victory in the next one. The Bulldogs went from settling for a play-in game to dancing in the college lacrosse spotlight after they knocked off second-seeded Syracuse in the Carrier Dome, sending Bryant to the quarterfinals round in front of a sold out Shuart Stadium. This year, Bryant hopes to make more magic, but a solid Marist team that flew under the national radar all season wants nothing more than to become a national darling. Meanwhile, in Maryland, Towson seeks to carry the THUNDERDOME! banner into South Bend for a date with Notre Dame. But a scrappy bunch at High Point has pulled off some big upsets and near-misses in their young history, and a win against the Tigers might set up something bonkers for the Panthers. It's going to be a busy Wednesday evening on your Internet browser watching these four teams.
