GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING, College Crosse Nation! Thanks for making us a part of your day! Here’s everything you need to know for January 8, 2020.

College Crosse News

North Carolina’s 2020 schedule includes two Thursday night games in March.

The University of North Carolina men’s lacrosse team released its official 2020 schedule with opponents, dates and game times Friday. Television details for all games (home and away) will be announced at a later date.

The Tar Heels have seven games scheduled against teams which qualified for the 2019 NCAA Tournament, including three games against squads which were seeded in last year’s national tourney — Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, Maryland, Duke (#2), Virginia (#3), Syracuse and Notre Dame (#7).

Check out Chris’ breakdown of Harvard’s 2020 schedule.

The Harvard Crimson are the 69th team in our 2020 men’s college lacrosse schedule preview series and the seventh and final team from the Ivy League. Harvard finished 5-8 overall in 2019 and 1-4 in Ivy League play. The Crimson failed to qualify for the Ivy League Tournament and hired Gerry Byrne as their new head coach in the summer.

BEARS: Make sure to also read Chris’ post on Mercer’s 2020 calendar.

The Mercer Bears are the 70th team in our 2020 men’s college lacrosse schedule preview series and the seventh team from the SoCon. Mercer finished 1-12 overall in 2019 and 1-6 in SoCon play. The Bears failed to qualify for the SoCon Tournament.

From Syracuse.com: If production matches potential, Syracuse lacrosse sees a long run.

In response to a combination of opportunity and necessity, Syracuse lacrosse coach John Desko made the decision to overload his lineup with young, unproven players the past two seasons. That strategy stewed in growing pains and mixed results: 8-7 in 2018 and 9-5 last year, runs that both ended with first-round NCAA Tournament losses.

Marquette looks pretty pumped to start the 2020 season.

Here’s a good article on the NLL’s Jessica Berman.

Jessica Berman has never played lacrosse, but that hasn’t stopped her from becoming one of the top executives in the National Lacrosse League.

In August, she was appointed deputy commissioner of the National Lacrosse League and is now the highest-ranking woman in a men’s professional sports league. Her immediate goal? To expand the NLL, which now has 13 professional teams, to 16 teams.

What’s Up, New PhilaJersey?

The Washington Post wrote a glowing article about NJ’s new indoor ski resort.

So why sink $110 million into Jersey mall skiing? Because it may revolutionize the sport, expanding and diversifying its base. Still, do we want to take away the majestic glory of mountain snow sports by plunking them in a 16-story steel-and-concrete container?
