Virginia men’s lacrosse begins its national title defense Feb. 8 against Loyola at Klöckner Stadium. With a plethora of key pieces from last year’s title-winning run returning, the 2020 Cavaliers have high hopes of bringing another championship back to Charlottesville.

Virginia tops the 2020 ACC Men’s Lacrosse Preseason Coaches Poll.

Virginia is the preseason favorite in the 2020 ACC Men’s Lacrosse Preseason Coaches Poll, released Tuesday by the conference office. The reigning NCAA and ACC champions, the Cavaliers garnered 21 points in balloting among the ACC’s five head coaches. Notre Dame was No. 2 with 18 points, followed by Syracuse (15), Duke (11) and North Carolina (10).

MARYLAND SEEKS TO RESTORE ITS DEFENSIVE IDENTITY

There are certain things you can almost take for granted in college lacrosse. When it comes to Maryland, it’s assuming the Terrapins won’t have a losing season (they never have had one in nearly a century of play), they’ll be in the NCAA tournament (their 17 consecutive appearances is the longest active streak) and their defense will be their foundation.
