Siena women’s lacrosse sets example for men’s team.

Siena men’s lacrosse coach Liam Gleason is entering his second season of rebuilding the program. He has an appreciation for what Siena women’s coach Abby Rehfuss was able to do in the same situation a year ago.

”Last year, I was always just a fan of her, going up to her and like, ‘Look what you’ve done in one year’ and maybe pumping her up,’’ Gleason recalled. “And she said, ‘Let’s see.’ “

#FreeTrussvilleLacrosse: Trussville Lacrosse teams continue mission to play games at football stadium.

According to the school system’s website, Hewitt-Trussville Stadium is a state-of-the-art, $14.6 million facility. Husky Field has artificial turf, which cost about $400,000. Those asking for use of the stadium said since the city of Trussville spent thousands of taxpayer dollars to build the stadium, the city should have the right to allow teams in the city to use it. However, it is unclear who makes decisions concerning the use of Husky Field. There is no written agreement on the matter, according to city leaders.

I know ‘Cuse fans are expecting big things from Nick Mellen this year.

It’s an obvious fit for Syracuse lacrosse senior defender Nick Mellen to pull on No. 11 this season. That jersey traditionally goes to SU’s top defensive player every season.

Orange fans are definitely going to want to read US Lacrosse Magazine’s preview of Syracuse.

For two straight years, the Orange have left the NCAA tournament in the first round. A blown four-goal lead to Loyola last season marked the sixth consecutive season Syracuse hasn’t made it to championship weekend.
