Circle These Dates

  • 2/29 vs. Villanova: The last three meetings between the two programs have been good ones. Delaware last won in 2017 and nearly defeated a then-undefeated Wildcat squad in 2018 as Christian Cuccinello scored twice to give Villanova the win. After a close first half, Nova pulled away in the final 30 minutes with a 9-3 second half.
  • 3/7 at Marist: Delaware last played the Red Foxes in 2013 in Poughkeepsie in an 8-7 Blue Hen win. Since then, Marist has won two MAAC Championships, including last year’s title, while the Blue Hens are looking to do the same in the CAA. Both teams have solid offenses, with Charlie Kitchen leading the way for Delaware.
  • 3/17 vs. Johns Hopkins: This will be only the fourth time Johns Hopkins makes the trip to Newark, the last coming in 2011. The Blue Hens have also lost all 10 games against their fellow blue birds, including last season’s 12-10 decision. Delaware has played Hopkins very well for the last two seasons, but could a change in venue be the key for Delaware’s first ever win over the legendary blue blood?
  • 4/4 vs. Drexel: If you haven’t heard, CAA conference play isn’t easy for anybody. It’s one of the more competitive conferences from top to bottom in Division I lacrosse, and a game against a close rival like Drexel makes it more important for the Blue Hens to come out with a win. Both of these teams made the conference tournament last season with Delaware beating the Dragons. But as the fourth and final seed, Drexel was able to upset UMass while Delaware fell to Towson (who then beat Drexel to win the conference title).
  • 4/18 at Towson: The past decade in the CAA has been ruled for the most part by Towson. The Tigers won the conference yet again in 2019 and also hosted a first round game. But with some of their key contributors gone on both sides of the ball, the CAA is open for anyone’s taking. That includes a rising Delaware program.
