Game Previews

Detroit Mercy @ Quinnipiac: It’s a MAAC showdown in Connecticut, as the Bobcats look to get something going after winning the conference last year. The Titans are 1-0 in MAAC play after beating Manhattan last weekend, and are led by sophomore Matthew Vangalen and his team-high 35 points. The Bobcats lost to Monmouth in 2OT last weekend, but Brian Feldman and company hope they can turn their season around.

Stony Brook @ Hartford: The Seawolves have lost three straight since starting the season 4-0 with wins over Brown and Fairfield. They have not scored over 10 goals since their 25-17 win over Brown on February 25. Since then, they’re 1-3 and have scored nine goals three times (Fairfield, UMBC, and Hofstra), and four goals against Rutgers. Meanwhile for Hartford, they’ve won three of their last four games since beginning the season 0-3. Justin Huggins is beginning to heat up, with 17 goals this season to lead the Hawks. He’s recorded five points in two of his last four games.

Drexel @ Providence: I think this will be the game of the day, as Providence has had a pretty good season to date, and the Dragons are riding on a three-game winning streak and look to get back to .500. The duo of Nick Hatzipetrakos and Brendan Kearns on offense for the Friars is an underrated duo in the country, and have been the main catalysts for the Friar offense. For Drexel, Cole Shafer had a team-high 20 goals, but freshman Reid Bowering has 12 goals and six assists on the year. He’s second on the team with 18 points.
