With the conclusion of the play-in games, we had to say good bye to a couple fan favorites in Hobart and Hartford. You never like to see teams go, but both squads had a great year.
Hobart finished the season 10-7 overall, and 4-2 in the NEC. Hobart's got to the Big BBQ by winning their conference's AQ and upsetting #1 St. Joe's and #2 Bryant, along the way. Hobart's run through the NEC was especially remarkable when you remember that they lost to the same two teams by a combined 28-7 in the regular season. Talk about bouncing back.
Hartford finished the season 11-7 overall, and 3-3 in the America East. The Hawks also got to the Big BBQ by winning their conference's AQ. Hartford stunned top seed Albany in the semi-finals of the AE Tournament and survived a shootout against the Vermont Catamounts in the title game. Like Hobart, Hartford lost to its conference tournament opponents earlier in the year but was able to turn it around in time when it really mattered.
Scoreboard Inventory: Hate to see the Statesmen and the Hawks leave so soon, but it was fun following them this season.
