College Crosse Recap.

The good times keep rolling for the Quinnipiac Bobcats who defeated Hartford 14-9 in tonight's other play-in game. Hartford actually put up a nice effort early on, responding to Quinnipiac's quick 4-1 start with back-to-back goals to cut the deficit to 1 with about 8 minutes left in the first half. However, that would be as close as Hartford would get as the Bobcats responded with a 5-0 run to take a commanding 9-3 lead with a little over 10 minutes left in the 3rd. Hartford actually outscored Quinnipiac 6-5 the rest of the way, but the damage was already done by then and the Hawks weren't able to do enough to prevent Quinnipiac from getting its 12th win on the season.

The Bobcats were led in scoring by Foster Cuomo who had 4 goals today, including a hat-trick in the 2nd half. Quinnipiac goalie Jack Brust was a monster today, and finished the game with 18 saves. Indeed, Brust saved his best for the second half when he made 6 saves in both the 3rd and 4th quarter. A great effort that helped to seal the deal for Quinnipiac in their first ever NCAA Tournament game.

Hartford should be commended for fighting until the end. They certainly let the shots ring as they put 27 of their 44 total shots on goal (Quinnipiac only had 27 total shots the whole game, 19 of which were on goal). While Jack Brust's masterful performance in goal for Quinnipiac stopped any hopes of a Hartford comeback, the Hawks certainly got after it today. Hartford also won the faceoff battle 18-9 and beat Quinnipiac in GBs, 35-25. Hartford's Jaedon Henderson's had a great game with 2 assists and 2 goals, while Justin Huggins also contributed manfully with his 3 goals.
