Hobart 5 vs. Towson 18 | Towson Recap |
College Crosse Recap
Towson absolutely dominated both sides of the ball today in a game that got out of hand quickly for the Hobart Statesmen. Indeed, after jumping out to a quick 1-0 lead, Hobart would lose total control of the game as the Tigers score the next seven goals to go up 7-1, before Hobart would score again.
Towson was able to secure its place in the next round of the tournament by relentlessly hounding and harassing Hobart's players and leaving them little room to operate. Indeed, Towson's aggressive style of played a large role in Hobart losing many of the key stats this game, including GBs and turnovers. Moreover, Towson limited Hobart to only 17 shots all game and even held the Statesmen 0-3 on the EMO all day. It really was a total lock-down performance by the Tigers.
Towson was led in scoring by Ryan Drenner, who finished the game with 4 goals. Moreover, both Ben McCarty and Joe Seider had 2 goals and 1 assist on the day, while Jon Mazza chipped in with a hat-trick. Additionally, Ian Kirby also threw in 3 assists this afternoon.
Special shout out to Hobart goalie Jackson Brown, who actually played decently despite what the scoreboard said. Indeed, while Brown let in 18 goals, he also made 19 saves in a game that could've been even worse for the Statesmen. Despite the game, this was a great season for Hobart and the future looks bright for the Statesmen under BOSS Raymond.
