2015 College Lacrosse Preview: Hofstra Picked as CAA Preseason Favorite

The Pride lead the way.

THUNDERDOME! doesn't care what people think will happen in THUNDERDOME! THUNDERDOME! does whatever THUNDERDOME! chooses to do, which in most seasons means that THUNDERDOME! will lose its collective mind and spit body parts into the atmosphere. THUNDERDOME! is what happens to college lacrosse when you pull the pin to a grenade and throw it into a shed full of grenades.

So, what follows is merely the anticipation of the earth spinning into the sun. The press release:

The No. 17 Hofstra University men's lacrosse team was picked to finish first in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) with the Pride's Sam Llinares selected as the CAA Preseason Player of the Year according to a vote by the league's six head coaches.

Here's how the voting shook out:

2015 COLONIAL PRESEASON POLL
PLACE TEAM FIRST-PLACE VOTES POINTS
1. Hofstra 4 29
2. Drexel 2 25
3. Fairfield
21
4. Towson 20
5. Massachusetts 15
6. Delaware 10

Based on the point tabulations some light tiering in the voting is visible: Tier I -- Hofstra and Drexel, the only programs receiving first-place votes, standing atop the table in close proximity; Tier II -- Fairfield and Towson, the two teams bunched together and as close to Tier I as they are to Tier III; and Tier III -- Massachusetts and Delaware, slightly separated from each other. For comparison purposes, here's how College Crosse projected THUNDERDOME! going into the season.

As for preseason all-league honors, here's the full preseason All-CAA team:
