Today is this, basically:
Otherwise, here are your three highlights for today:
- Towson at Johns Hopkins: The Tigers' junkyard attitude against the Jays' bluest of bloods. It's a contrast of styles at Homewood this afternoon, factors conducive to 60 minutes of intrigue. Towson has seemingly done more with less under Nadelen while Hopkins has struggled to fully realize their potential in the last few seasons. There are ramifications here -- Towson could bag a big kill early in its campaign while Hopkins wants to keep the good feelings rolling in an important season -- and that makes Tigers-Jays more than a mere regional curiosity.
- Denver at Duke: I don't even with this thing. Denver straight up annihilated Air Force in Colorado Spring last week; Duke meandered through an odd win against Jacksonville. This is one of those early season games that has the potential to platform a program for a big push through the early part of the year, and both the Pioneers and Blue Devils could use the wind at their backs as they figure out what kind of team they can become as the season unfolds. I'm not sure what the over-under is for this game, but I'd set it at "mass casualties."
- Loyola at Penn State: The beat on Loyola going into their date with Penn State is whether the Greyhounds team that showed up in the fourth quarter against the 'Hoos will be the team that runs in University Park. That's not fair to the Greyhounds (or Virginia): The reality is that Loyola isn't the team that assaulted the Cavaliers for 15 minutes, nor is it the team that looked like warmed over garbage for 45 minutes in Charlottesville. The key for Loyola today is finding its purpose early against a strong Nittany Lions team and refusing to let Penn State dictate reality. If the Nittany Lions are able to run around with a nail gun without mitigation, Loyola is going to find itself in a difficult situation to overcome.
Here's Saturday's full schedule. If there are errors, please let me know. (With the number of games that have been impacted due to February not actually being spring, this is more of a first offering of games rather than a definitive assertion of reality.) I'll fix/populate links to live stats and video as the day progresses (if necessary).

This is your open thread for Saturday (or, rather, what's left of Saturday). People will be around to yak about whatever is tickling their fancy.
