Welcome to another episode of the Black and Blue Jay Podfidential, a JHU-focused pod on the College Crossecast network. On the show with me for this episode is former Johns Hopkins star and current MLL All-Star for the Charlotte Hounds, Ryan Brown.
The former JHU captain was a three-time USILA All-American, 1st Team All-B1G selection in 2015 & 2016, and the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year in 2015. Additionally, Ryan holds the record for most goals in a season at Hopkins (61 Gs) and is second only to Hopkins legend Terry Riordan (184 Gs) in career goals at Hopkins with 159. Moreover, Ryan is also the source material for the greatest GIF I’ve ever created, one which I’ve used frequently in LaxPower message boards and elsewhere since 2014.

Let’s see that again!!
We started out the show learning a little bit about Ryan’s background and where he grew up (1:00), we then talked about his playing days at Hopkins and some of his favorite memories from Homewood (6:30). Later in the show we discussed Ryan going pro to the Charlotte Hounds (23:35), his time coaching at Marquette (25:20). Ryan then discussed how he and close friend Deemer Class started up RBDC (27:50) and what it was like winning a Gold medal with Team USA in Israel this past summer (31:20). Finally, we close out with some rapid fire questions to end the show (36:20).
Ryan was a great guest and I think you’ll enjoy the show. You can listen to the podcast at Podomatic or down in the player below.
