Previewing Quinnipiac’s 2018 Schedule

After a very disappointing 2017 season, can the Bobcats rebound this year?

Quinnipiac Athletics

The Quinnipiac Bobcats are the 54th team in our 2018 schedule preview series and the fifth from the MAAC. The Bobcats finished last year 2-9 after winning the MAAC in 2016.

Here’s the entire 2018 schedule:

Quinnipiac’s 2018 Schedule

There’s plenty of new faces to the Bobcats schedule this year. Bellarmine and Princeton leave the team’s slate of games, while Fairfield, Holy Cross, UMass Lowell, Vermont, and Wagner all come in. Quinnipiac has three more games than they did last year.

Let’s check out some notable games on this schedule:

Best Nonconference Game: vs. UMass Lowell

A good test to start the season and to open up the team’s brand new home against the River Hawks, who have been steadily improving as a team the past couple of years. The Bobcats return 14 seniors, but the River Hawks have a very tight knit squad, many of them started when the program began in 2015.

Best Conference Game: vs. Cansius

The Golden Griffins are a dark horse to win the MAAC. The conference has had a different winner for the past six years. Each team besides Manhattan has won a conference title. Quinnipiac has a chance to get a quality win late in the season and hopefully clinch a spot or remain alive in the MAAC Tournament.

Under The Radar Game: vs. Siena

The Saints finished last season hot, and almost had a chance to move onto the MAAC Tournament. Chris Robertson had a hat-trick and Brian Prunty added a pair of goals and assists as well. The Saints have similar goals to the Bobcats as well for the season.

Possible Upset: @ Marist

Quinnipiac was competitive in a handful of games last year, including Marist, but lost by only one. They might need to take advantage early, just like Siena did last year against the Red Foxes. But they’d need to finish strong. Marist came back in the fourth quarter to get the win over the Saints and eliminate Siena from MAAC Tournament contention.
