Lafayette has a tough road ahead if they want to get out of the bottom of the Patriot League.

A heated lacrosse stick? It’s a real thing!

Lacrosse The Nation

The Syracuse Orange held their annual media day as they start spring practices later in the week! Here’s some of the best pictures and videos from the day:

When your own teammates ask better questions than you do <<<<

This will be really good to watch on The Season:

Team pics are always fire!

With Evan Molloy graduated, redshirt sophomore Nick Martin is the team’s new media day quarterback. He has a long way to go before surpassing Molloy’s success, just look at the football he’s using:

Brad Voigt ruined a sick catch with a cringe worthy rap.

It’s not media day without Nate Solomon smiling, like he does 24/7.

Since it is media day, the media were there! Here’s a handful of stories:

You can watch Desko’s entire press conference below:

Out west, as the Denver Pioneers started spring practices, the big story of the day was Trevor Baptiste being named to Team USA. Rod Mackey from 9News in Denver has more:

Baptiste isn’t the only Pioneer who will be representing the Stars and Stripes this year. Troy Terry will play for Team USA in the Olympics in hockey. Both Terry and Baptiste will be the youngest players on their teams, in fact Baptiste is the only college player on the lacrosse team and admits he’s been teased a little about it.

”There was this song playing in warmups and they’re like oh we used to listen to this in college and I was like I used to listen to this when I was nine years old, “ said Baptiste.

DU head coach Bill Tierney is almost as excited for this honor for Trevor as Baptiste himself is, a well deserved honor.

”I’ve been in this college business for 36 years and Trevor is in the top two or three of the young men I’ve ever been around,” said Tierney.

Let’s check out other teams:

Ohio Machine head coach Bear Davis was also at Buckeye practice.

Marist also opened up spring practices.

The Lehigh Mountain Hawks have added IMG Academy midfielder Michael Donaghy as a spring transfer. Check out his highlight reel as well. The Mountain Hawks will also have head coach Kevin Cassese and midfielder Ian Strain on their Instagram page on Friday.

UNC looks good!

Speaking of those new unis, here they are!

Get closer looks of the white, Carolina blue, and navy threads.

The Cleveland State Vikings also have new uniforms:

CHEESE!

Our Marisa Ingemi writes on why stud New Englanders leave for top tier programs outside their home turf for the New England Lacrosse Journal:

The recruiting process used to start even earlier, which encouraged top players to make a college decision at a younger age. Last season, the rule was changed so college coaches couldn’t speak with players until after their sophomore seasons.

”He was committed to UNC before he played a minute for me,” Dover-Sherborn coach Brian McLaughlin said before the start of [Bailey] Laidman’s senior season. “He’s a tremendous player and elevates every practice and makes every player better.”

If Laidman had more time, would that decision have been any different?

”The way they are headed, especially where BU is headed, I think that would have impacted my decision a little bit,” Laidman said. “I was willing to go a little farther than most, so I was looking at UNC and Hopkins, and that’s the closest I was looking.”

Another NE Lax Journal story, this time from Mike Zhe, takes a look at the family legacy of Villanova Wildcats senior attackman Danny Seibel:

From Villanova to Georgetown, from greater Boston to the Upper Valley of New Hampshire, the Seibel family is leaving an extended mark on the sport.

Cousins Danny and Hannah both are captaining their Division 1 teams as seniors this spring. Danny’s younger brother, Tim, is a sophomore midfielder at Connecticut College.

Hannah’s younger sister, Molly, is a senior captain at Phillips Exeter Academy and her youngest sister, Jess, is a sophomore at Hanover High School, a top team in New Hampshire. Another cousin, Erin, is a junior in high school in Medfield, Mass., who has committed to play at UMass.

It’s a family love of lacrosse, and a determination to succeed at the sport, that began taking shape a generation ago in Brookline, Mass., where five Seibel siblings — brothers Jimmy, Pete, Chris and Matt, and sister Mary Beth — grew up.

A great story from WBZ in Boston on the Holy Cross Crusaders welcoming Austin Jones to the team from Team IMPACT.

Hofstra Pride assistant coach JP Brazel has set up a GoFundMe page for his ailing father, Tom Brazel.

In a terrible turn of events, Tom Brazel has fallen extremely ill and is in critical condition after suffering multiple heart attacks while fighting pneumonia. Tom is currently admitted at St Francis hospital In Roslyn NY.

Financially he, nor his immediate family will be able to handle the expansive medical expenses ahead.

Anyone who knows Tom knows that he is a truly caring , passionate and generous man who has made positive lasting impressions along his way.

Any generosity in helping Tom’s cause is greatly appreciated.

As of posting, the campaign is over $23,000, with the goal at $25,000.
