Player Movement: Duke Gets Former Georgetown Midfielder Peter Conley

The former Hoya had 27 goals and 18 assists last season.

Former Georgetown Hoyas attackman and midfielder Peter Conley will reportedly transfer to play for the Duke Blue Devils in 2018, as first reported by Inside Lacrosse.

Conley was named a USILA Honorable Mention All-American, as well as a First Team All-Big East selection. He had 27 goals and 18 assists for 45 points in his redshirt-junior season. His 27 goals and 45 points were second behind Daniel Bucaro, while his 18 assists led the Hoyas.

In 2015, Conley scored 19 goals and three assists in seven games, all of them he started in, before he went down with a season-ending left foot injury against, of all teams, Duke.

In 2016, Conley played in five games, starting in four. But he suffered a stress fracture in his right foot and was able to redshirt then. He finished with seven goals and nine assists, which was fourth on the team in points.

Duke returns 11 of their 13 leading scorers from a year ago, losing only Jack Brucker and Kyle Rowe to graduation. It will be very interesting what “Touchdown” John Danowski will do with Conley. Will he plug him in to replace Bruckner at attack? Will he put him back at midfield? We’ll see, but this is another addition to an already stacked team for 2018.

IL also reported that North Carolina Tar Heels goaltender Brian Balkam and defenseman Jack Lambert won’t return to the team. Balkam is listed as a senior on UNC’s website anyway, so that was probably a given. Lambert was a redshirt-junior, and he will actually be attending graduate school over in London.
