College Crosse News.
Chris’ weekly Power Rankings are up.
Our boy Joe Keegan wrote a wonderful piece on Notre Dame’s silent assassin, Pierre Byrne.
With the NCAA rules, it’s tough to get topside off those low wing dodges. Defenders can force you underneath knowing that you’re not a threat to crease dive. Players who get topside from here consistently pile up lots of goals and assists. There are only a handful of dudes like that in the country: Dylan Molloy (Brown), Pat Spencer (Loyola), Ben Reeves (Yale) and Josh Byrne (Hofstra).
Pierre Byrne doesn’t need to be that type of player for the Irish to be successful. He only needs to get defenders caught hesitating, like he has all year, to tally “hockey” assists.
The Georgia Swarm help make a young fan’s dreams come true by signing him to the squad.

What’s Up, Philly?
The Eagles want the NFL to allow them to use the kelly green uniforms throughout the season.
The Eagles are proposing a new resolution at next week’s NFL meetings that could excite fans who want to see the team in alternate helmets - perhaps even the popular Kelly green helmets that are now throwbacks.
The Eagles want to take out the language in the league’s third uniform policy that requires “only current, primary” helmets be used as part of a third uniform. The effect of the proposal is it would permit teams to have an “alternate helmet” to be worn with a third uniform.
The Eagles have worn black uniforms as their third uniform, but they’ve kept their same midnight green helmets. One of the reasons why a throwback uniform didn’t make much sense for the Eagles to wear is because it would clash with the team’s current helmets. But if this rule proposal goes through, the Eagles could potentially bring back Kelly green uniforms as an alternate with the corresponding helmet.
Pennsylvania high school lacrosse (PIAA) begins their season today. That includes Chris’ alma mater, La Salle!
“How you deal with adversity is how you deal with life, and the young guys who stepped on that field last year did that,” [Bill] Leahy said. “I like that this year’s team have already bought in to the team concepts. We have some talented parts on defense, and a talented head coach in Tony Resch running it. We lost a lot to graduation at midfield, and we will be relying on younger guys. We’ll find out whether or not these guys, like [Joey] Taylor, can get it done or not in big-boy lacrosse. He has a real nice game.
“We love having great defense, but we always refer to the talent level. We’ve had teams in the past that we could turn loose, like the teams with [Matt] Rambo. We’re start in the middle and see where we need to go. This is a team that could have an impact. These guys are character guys. Lessons were learned last year. We have a culture now where your teammates matter most.
“Winning counts, but there is a different vibe here about lifting your brother. Putting yourself aside for the good of something bigger matters most. If they do those things, no matter what happens, we’ll all have been successful.”

Scientists have made a discovery that could lead to a revolutionary drug that actually reverses ageing. The drug could help damaged DNA to miraculously repair and even protect Nasa astronauts on Mars by protecting them from solar radiation. A team of researchers developed the drug after discovering a key signalling process in DNA repair and cell ageing.
