2015 College Lacrosse Preview: Bryant Picked as Northeast Conference Preseason Favorite

Everyone in the NEC loves the Bulldogs.

The Northeast Conference released its preseason men's lacrosse poll today, a poll that is "preseason" only in the context of the league having not yet started intra-conference competition. From the press release:

Northeast Conference men's lacrosse coaches have unanimously picked Bryant to win its fourth consecutive NEC title in 2015 as revealed in the annual preseason coaches' poll released Tuesday. The three-time defending NEC Tournament champion Bulldogs were picked first in six of the seven polls, making them a unanimous selection as coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams.

Here's how the voting shook out:

2015 NEC PRESEASON POLL
PLACE TEAM FIRST-PLACE VOTES POINTS
1. Bryant 6 ?
2. St. Joseph's 1 ?
3. Hobart
?
4. Sacred Heart
?
5. Robert Morris ?
6. Mount St. Mary's ?
7. Wagner ?

More frustrating than a poll that does not include first place votes is a poll that doesn't include point totals. There are, however, a few knowns and reasonable assumptions in the polling: (1) Mike Pressler put St. Joseph's at the top of his ballot as coaches weren't allowed to vote for their own teams; (2) Wagner is the best; and (3) It was probably tight in the middle of the poll between Hobart, Sacred Heart, and Robert Morris. For comparison purposes, here's how College Crosse projected the NEC going into the season.
