College Crosse Week 5 Picks: THIS IS MARCH

It’s a two-man race so far through Week 4, but there’s still plenty of time left in the season.

Welcome back everyone to another edition of our College Crosse Pick ‘Em series. I am filling-in this week for our boy Adam, who is down in Austin, TX for the weekend. Special shout out to the King of New York as this Pick ‘Em series was his idea and he’s done a great job with it this season.

You know who hasn’t been doing a great job this season with the Pick ‘Em series? Me! Indeed, and everything looked so grand through Week 2. SAD!

Now in my defense, some .... most ..... nearly all of my losses this season came from me being on the wrong end of very close games, and it’s important that we keep that in mind when looking at the standings. Essentially, I am one hot week away from being back in contention. So remember, while there are no moral victories in lacrosse, there’s plenty of room for context & nuance in Pick ‘Em.

Anyway, enough glossing over my pitiful record this season, let’s check out last week’s results:

1. Jake (5-3)

2. Adam (4-4)

3. Ryan (3-5)

3. Chris (3-5)

5. Safe (2-6)

Jake had a pretty good weekend last week, as he was the only one to finish with an above .500 record. Here’s the overall standings through last night’s Duke vs. Loyola game:

  1. Adam (22-11)
  2. Jake (21-12)
  3. Ryan (16-17)
  4. Chris (14-19)
  5. Safe (13-20)

With Duke vs. Loyola & Navy vs. Princeton having already been decided, we have seven games left on the slate the rest of the weekend. There’s Penn State vs. Cornell & Penn vs. Villanova tonight. Then we have Johns Hopkins vs. Syracuse, BU vs. Colgate, & Denver vs. Notre Dame on Saturday. Finally the weekend closes out with Cornell vs. Towson, and a late addition to the Pick ‘Em chart, Yale vs. Michigan, on Sunday.

College Crosse Week 5 Picks

WEEK 5 (March 5. - March 10) Adam Jake Ryan Chris Safe
WEEK 5 (March 5. - March 10) Adam Jake Ryan Chris Safe
Princeton vs. Navy Navy Navy Navy Navy Navy
Loyola vs. Duke Duke Duke Duke Loyola Duke
Penn State vs. Cornell Penn State Penn State Penn State Penn State Penn State
Penn vs. Villanova Villanova Villanova Villanova Villanova Penn
Johns Hopkins vs. Syracuse Syracuse Johns Hopkins Johns Hopkins Johns Hopkins Syracuse
BU vs. Colgate Colgate Boston University BU Boston University BU
Denver vs. Notre Dame Notre Dame Denver Denver Notre Dame Notre Dame
Cornell vs. Towson Towson Towson Towson Towson Towson
Michigan vs. Yale Yale Michigan Yale Yale Michigan

In tonight’s match-up everyone picked Penn State over Cornell. Which probably means the Big Red is going to win in a rout. I am the lone person to pick Penn over Villanova. There’s just something about the Quakers. I think they can steal this one.

Syracuse vs. Hopkins was pretty evenly split. Jake, Ryan, & Chris all picked Hopkins while, Adam & myself picked Syracuse. Honestly, I don’t know how one this isn’t unanimous as well. There’s no way Hopkins can win this one in the Dome.

Adam is the only person to pick Colgate over BU. While Jake & Ryan were the only ones to pick Denver over Notre Dame on Saturday night.

Originally, we only had Cornell vs. Towson on the board for Sunday, but since everyone picked the Tigers in that one, Jake, Ryan, & I decided to add the Yale vs. Michigan game to the board while we were taping the Crossecast Weekend Preview show to spice things up. Jake & I picked Michigan in that one, while everyone else picked Yale.

It should be a fun weekend. I hope you all get a chance to catch some of the action. Let us know your picks in the comment section. If you’d like to listen to the Crossecast Weekend Preview show, please click here or hit play in the player directly below.
