College Crosse Week 6 Picks: Another home game for Syracuse, shocker

We’re back with more picks for the weekend.

It’s starting to get ugly.

College Crosse’s first annual pick’em has turned into a two-man race between Adam and Jake. Through five weeks, they’re the only two above .500—Ryan, Chris, and Safe all have more losses than wins. I’d hate to be one of those guys right now.

Last week was particularly brutal. The gang all incorrectly picked Navy to beat Princeton, while four of the five picked Villanova over Penn and BU over Colgate. Adam led the week at 6-3, with Safe in second at 5-4.

Here’s how things stack up overall:

  1. Adam (27-13)
  2. Jake (22-18)
  3. Ryan (18-22)
  4. Chris (18-22)
  5. Safe (17-23)

Safe finds himself 10 games out of first place, which might soon be an insurmountable hole to be in with just a little over half the regular season remaining.

Things aren’t getting any easier this week. We kick things off tonight with Utah vs. Fairfield as Brian Holman and his Utes try to win their 5th game of the season and get above .500. Then we’ve got a stacked Saturday with Bucknell vs. BU, Rutgers vs. Syracuse, Towson vs. Duke, Notre Dame vs. Virginia, and Princeton vs. Penn. A lot of those games look like tossups.

The game of the week is #3 Cornell making the trip to Ivy league rival, #4 Yale in a matchup of two of the best teams in the country. Last time these teams played, Cornell won 14-8 on its way to an Ivy tournament championship. But that was then, and this is now, and Yale now has TD Ierlan.

College Crosse Week 6 Picks

WEEK 6 (March 15. - March 17) Adam Jake Ryan Chris Safe
Utah vs. Fairfield Fairfield Utah Utah Fairfield Fairfield
Bucknell vs. BU Bucknell Bucknell BU BU BU
Rutgers vs. Syracuse Syracuse Syracuse Syracuse Syracuse Syracuse
Towson vs. Duke Towson Towson Duke Duke Duke

Princeton vs. Penn Princeton Penn Penn Princeton Penn
Total season record to date: 27-13 22-18 18-22 18-22 17-23

We’re all unanimous on the red-hot Notre Dame Fighting Irish to take care of ACC foe Virginia and Syracuse to beat Rutgers in the Dome. (Does Cuse ever play any road games? What’s going on here?) Safe is the only one who thinks Yale will lose at home to Cornell. The four other contests are all split 3-2.

As always, check back next Friday for updated standings and a fresh slate of games to pick from. In the mean time, follow us at College_Crosse on Twitter and tell Safe how bad he’s doing.
