GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING, College Crosse Nation!! Thanks for making us a part of your day! Here are your links for September 12, 2017.

What You Missed

We finally continued our 2017 Dissections with the St. John’s Red Storm.

The Man in the Red Bandana documentary came out on the 16th anniversary of 9/11.

Lacrosse The Nation

Some sad news regarding the Lafayette Leopards. Easton police are investigating the death of freshman McCrae Williams yesterday afternoon. Frank Warner of The Morning Call has details.

Authorities did not disclose where or when Williams was found before he was taken to the hospital.

The coroner’s office said an autopsy is scheduled Wednesday to determine the exact cause and manner of Williams’ death.

Williams played lacrosse in his high school years and planned to start playing lacrosse this year at Lafayette College. The college listed him as a recruit for the sport.

The Lehigh County coroner’s office reported the death about 10 p.m. Monday.

He was a goalie from Noble & Greenough. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and the entire Leopards lacrosse community.

Meanwhile, a Westchester woman accused of DWI and killing former Manhattanville player Robbie Schartner last October has pleaded not guilty.

Former Vermont Catamounts assistant Chris Miller has joined the Villanova Wildcats coaching staff as their defensive coordinator. Brian Samson is out.

[Michael] Corrado states, “I am excited to welcome Chris Miller to our coaching staff. He brings over 10 years of college coaching experience with him to the Main Line. We can't wait to get started!”

"I am very grateful for the opportunity to join the Villanova University community and Men's Lacrosse program," shared Miller. "I think Villanova University is the perfect balance of academics, athletics, and faith. I am excited to recruit, mentor, and develop high caliber student-athletes from all over the country."

Andy Fox of WAVY in Virginia asks what the end goal is for lacrosse in Hampton Roads, the only metro area on the east coast to not have a public high school team.

The top guy at Virginia Beach City Public Schools is Superintendent Dr. Aaron Spence, “I think there is a real possibility we could have lacrosse in Virginia Beach.” Dr. Spence is looking at city-wide interest to determine varsity status in high schools,

“We would need to have half of the schools to be school based teams, so all the members from the team would have to be from that school,” says Dr. Spence, who makes the distinction between players only from the school and community based teams that take players from other schools that don’t have club programs.

But there’s good news for Virginia Beach. Dr. Spence’s criteria for the 11 High Schools with student only teams is almost being met. Currently five teams; Bayside, Cox, First Colonial, Kellam, and Ocean Lakes, have boys club teams. Two other schools, Landstown and Princess Anne, have community teams but will have student only teams by 2019. It should be noted that [Jess] Stevenson’s Princess Anne team could be student only right now, but the team has elected to be open to current seniors who don’t go to Princess Anne. This is so they can finish their club experience where they started.

“It would not be the right thing to do to suddenly tell that senior he can’t play on our team,” Stevenson says.

The Ohio State Buckeyes went beachin’.
