College Crosse Prospectus: Notre Dame Gets High Accolades

All the lacrosse news you can handle and plenty more!

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING, College Crosse Nation!! Thanks for making us a part of your day! Here are your links for September 10, 2017.

What You Missed

A new professional field lacrosse league will begin next year in Canada.

Lacrosse The Nation

Kind of competitive lacrosse! The Notre Dame Fighting Irish held some intrasquad scrimmages!

They’re also Inside Lacrosse’s top class, and Arden Cohen is IL’s top freshman defenseman.

We’re inching closer to learning about games, by the way.

Shoutout to the VMI Keydets on having FIVE walk-ons make the team!

Saturdays (and Sundays) are for running.

The NJIT Highlanders also went outside, except they spent some of their time volunteering.

Bellarmine also got some new swag, which includes Cascade S helmets!

Also looks like the Sacred Heart Pioneers are getting S helmets too!

In Mann Cup action: The New Westminster Salmonbellies defeated the Peterborough Lakers 13-8 in Game 2 to take a 2-0 series lead. More from Steve Ewen of The Province.

Buque made 51 saves on the night. There were a handful of highlight reel ones, like when he turned Kyle Buchanan away on a rebound and moments later on a deft backhander with New Westminster up 5-0 midway through the first period. The vast majority of his stops were on attempts from the perimeter, though, as the Salmonbellies clamped down on the Peterborough offence and kept them from running their trademark pick and roll game.

The Lakers also didn’t get the saves they needed early, either as New Westminster scored three goals on their first four shots on the usually reliable Evan Kirk.

Peterborough coach Mike Hasen has been alternating Kirk and Matt Vinc through these playoffs. Vinc made 50 saves in New Westminster’s 12-10 overtime win in Game 1 on Friday.

Kirk, the National Lacrosse League goalie of the year in 2016, ended up giving up six goals on 13 shots in 11:37 of work on Saturday.

New Westminster are looking for their first Mann Cup since 1991.
