GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING, College Crosse Nation!! Thanks for making us a part of your day! Here are your links for September 1, 2017.

College Crosse News.

Coaches can now directly contact high school juniors. U.S. Lacrosse wrote a nice post yesterday about how things might get nutty starting at midnight last night. I did some searching and didn’t see many commitments on Twitter, but I am sure they are all going to start rolling in soon.

happy september 1st!! always an exciting day!! #lovetheprocess #gojays

Retiring MLL star Kyle Sweeney wrote a touching Love Letter To Lacrosse.

She was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen. I was 12 years old and I was in love. My eyes settled on her as she leaned against the wall. I could tell she had some stories to tell. Her beauty was understated, but I saw it right away from across the room. I was proud that I noticed her among all the others. It’s hard to explain how it felt at that age, but it just hit me in the gut. She was the one. The STX Gait Strung Turbo. My first lacrosse stick. That stick, the one that people would eventually mistake for a fishing net on family trips down the Jersey Shore, became my obsession.

President of San Diego’s newest NLL team, Steve Govett, spoke with KUSI News.

FINALLY, college lacrosse has come back to Centenary College!

The Centenary athletic department and Director of Athletics and Recreation Dr. Bob Bunnell are pleased to announce the addition of men’s lacrosse and new head coach, Casey McDonald. Also announced on Thursday, August 31, Dr. Bunnell announced Tom Jackson will become the new Gents and Ladies tennis coach as well as the removal of the interim tag from Gents soccer head coach Kyle Symczak. “After two seasons, I am excited to announce that we are re-introducing men’s lacrosse here at Centenary,” said Bunnell. “We have already hit the ground running with the hire of Casey McDonald as head coach. He has invaluable ties to not only Louisiana lacrosse, but the Shreveport lacrosse community as well. Coupled with his love and enthusiasm for the sport that was clearly evident, we are pleased to welcome Casey to the Centenary athletic staff.

Syracuse to scrimmage Iroquois Nationals & Team Israel as part of lacrosse weekend.

The Syracuse lacrosse team will test itself against some tough international and NCAA foes this fall. The Orange announced on Thursday that it will scrimmage against the Iroquois Nationals and Team Israel in the highlight event of the Deyhontsigwa'ehs The Creator's Game, Lacrosse Weekend. That event runs from Sept. 28-Oct. 1. The Orange's scrimmages will take place at 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Oct. 1 in the Carrier Dome. Tickets can be purchased for $10 with parking available for $5.

NBC 7 in San Diego did a nice segment on the city’s new NLL team.

The National Lacrosse League (NLL), the largest professional lacrosse league in the world, has awarded an expansion team to San Diego. The yet to be named team will begin to play in November 2018. NLL Commissioner Nick Sakiewicz and Steve Govett, President of the San Diego team, visited the NBC 7 studios Wednesday to talk about San Diego’s newest professional sports franchise. “San Diego represents a great footprint for us. We’ve been predominantly a northwest league and coming out to San Diego, which is not only a great sports city, but geographically, it puts us in a great spot,” said Sakiewicz.

It’s always good when you can laugh at yourself. Here’s a Temple women’s lacrosse video of “lacrosse fails.”

San Diego native Bill Walton is pretty stoked about the new NLL squad.

Bill Walton is known in the sports world for a lot of things. Hall-of-fame career at UCLA under John Wooden. NBA Champion. NBA Most Valuable Player. College basketball announcer, who may, on occasion, go on a rant mid-broadcast.
Now, you can add lacrosse fan to the mix. Reports were confirmed on Tuesday that the NLL is officially expanding to San Diego and Philadelphia - a story College Crosse broke back in early July - and you could say that Walton is a little bit amped about it.

What’s Up, PhilaJersey?

Christopher’s grinding over at CrossingBroad.com! Here’s his second post for the site on last night’s Eagles game.

First off, congratulations, you made it through the 2017 preseason. Even better, you made it through what was probably the worst preseason game known to man. The picture above is the best way to describe how it went. The Eagles lost 16-10 to the Jets, but somehow almost won this game late in the final quarter. But who cares about the result of this turd burger.

World/National News.
