Just Say No To Lacrosse In The 2028 Olympics In LA.

The Kid Chris doesn’t want the lacrosse in the 2028 Olympics in LA.

Let’s get this straight: I love lacrosse. But that doesn’t mean everything with the sport is right. Matter of fact, you’ve heard me say plenty of things about what’s wrong with some forms of lacrosse. But with the report from the Los Angeles Times on Monday that the 2028 Summer Olympics would be held in Los Angeles, it’s raised an interesting question in the lacrosse community. Will lacrosse be in the Olympics? Should they? As a fan, absolutely. It’s a great sport and many countries have national organizations .... But will Olympic lacrosse happen for 2028? I don’t think so. And there’s a few reasons why.

BOSS (Seth) Tierney’s contract was extended at Hofstra.

The Hofstra Pride are keeping longtime head coach Seth Tierney for a few more seasons. Per a press release, the Tierney agreed to a multi-year contract extension with the university. No details of the agreement have been made public, and they usually never are. Last year, Tierney helped the Pride get as far up as second in the media and coaches polls, earning wins over North Carolina, Princeton, and Providence. Hofstra began the season 10-0, before losing three of their final four games of the season. He produced two USILA All-American selections in goaltender Jack Concannon and attackman Josh Byrne.

Bryant adds former Bulldog Travis Harrington as an assistant coach and the off. coordinator for the 2017-18 season.

Bryant University head men's lacrosse coach Mike Pressler is pleased to announce the addition of former Bulldog Travis Harrington as an assistant coach and the offensive coordinator for the 2017-18 season. "Speaking for our entire program, I am absolutely thrilled to welcome back Travis Harrington to his alma mater as our new assistant lacrosse coach and offensive coordinator," Pressler said. "During his career as a Bryant Bulldog player, he was instrumental in leading our program through the transition from DII to DI, and in his senior year, helped lead his team to our first ever DI NEC Tournament title." A 2012 Bryant grad, Harrington comes back to Smithfield after spending 2016-17 as the first assistant at the University of Hartford. He served as the offensive, recruiting and EMO coordinator with the Hawks. In addition, he was the positional coach for the attack, midfield, and face-off unit.

Lacrosse saw the largest increase in youth participation over the last year for both boys and girls in California.

The number of boys and girls throughout California participating in high school sports has been steadily increasing over the last five years and is at an all-time high in 2017. The California Interscholastic Federation, which oversees all high school athletics throughout the state, announced Tuesday that lacrosse saw the largest percentage increase over the last year among both girls and boys. Some Sacramento area coaches, parents and players attribute the increase in participation to more visibility of the sport and growing concern over concussions and major injuries in sports like football. "My parents growing up always said I couldn't play football,” 17-year-old Sacramento Lacrosse player Trevor Thompson said. “I always wanted to play because all my friends played growing up and [my parents] just never let me. They're happy I found something that's close to it but not quite as severe as football is."

Chris ... dude ... just stop, man: Chris Christie says he showed restraint by not dumping his nachos on a heckling Cubs fan.

Gov. Chris Christie reminded people on Wednesday that he didn't dump nachos on a Chicago Cubs fan who heckled him. Speaking at an unrelated event in Trenton, the Republican governor said three days after he confronted a heckler at a Milwaukee Brewers-Cubs game that he won't quit attending baseball games. "I didn't dump the nachos on him or anything, which was an option," Christie said. "No, I'm not swearing off baseball games in any way." Christie was carrying nachos when he was caught on video calling the fan, Brad Joseph, a "big shot" during Sunday's game. Christie said Joseph heckled him once and he confronted Joseph after a second jibe.

This is definitely a 1st world problem: Saint-Tropez gets sinking feeling as number of yachts in its marina plunges.

Saint-Tropez, the glittering Riviera resort favoured by celebrities and the super-rich, is lamenting a decline in the number of yachts berthed at its marina this summer. Luxury yacht owners tend not to be short of funds, but increasingly they are shunning the Côte d’Azur’s upscale resorts because of prohibitive costs. Instead of Saint-Tropez or Antibes’ renowned “billionaires’ harbour”, many are choosing less expensive destinations in Italy or Spain, where berthing fees, fuel prices and crewing costs are lower.
