Former Johns Hopkins player Sol Kumin is enjoying post-lacrosse life as a horse owner, from The Baltimore Sun.
Kumin, founder of Wall Street hedge fund Folger Hill, said he was glad he chose to come to Arlington for the race. He also had horses running at Saratoga in New York.
"We came and obviously had an unbelievable day," Kumin said. "To win the Beverly D. and the Million, it's a day you can't replicate. Super fortunate. Really a great day."
The victory ended a six-race losing skid for Beach Patrol. The 4-year-old last won a year ago in the Grade 1 Secretariat Stakes at Arlington .
"It's been a tough year," Kumin said of Beach Patrol. "He fights hard, hasn't been lucky. We were thrilled to get him back to a track he loves."
