Game To Watch.
Rutgers vs. NJIT: The Rutgers show continues on today with a game versus the NJIT Highlanders. While NJIT might not be the toughest opponent this will be the 3rd game in a week for the Scarlet Knights. I’m going to go out on a limb and say there’s zero chance that BOSS Brecht will not have his lads ready, but at the end of the these are college kids and anything can happen in college lacrosse.
Fairfield vs. Penn State: Speaking of unstoppable rock shows, Penn State plays today versus Fairfield. The Nittany Lions will have a national audience this afternoon (#HappyHourLacrosse), which is very exciting since many of their games this year haven’t been streamed or televised. PSU will be going up against history as well as Fairfield today, as Penn State has an opportunity to go 8-0 for the first time in school history (Last 7-0 season was in 1992).

On paper, Penn State’s offense is like any other high-scoring offense. Sophomore attackman Grant Ament (16G, 16A) plays the role of Batman. Freshman attackman Mac O’Keefe (NCAA-best 4.14 goals per game) stars as Robin. And the Nittany Lions have a face-off specialist in Gerard Arceri (68.8%) who allows them to play a lot more offense than defense. When you watch the film, the six-on-six movements are far from conventional. Penn State plays a pick-heavy offense, but their picks aren’t announced beforehand -- they’re spontaneous. Plenty of teams run picks at X that resemble spread pick-and-rolls in the NBA; Penn State’s picks are more comparable to combination routes in the NFL.
Games start at 4:00. I’ll see you out there!
