Today’s highlights.
- Vermont survives another thriller: The Catamounts might be the Cardiac Cats this year as they outlast another SoCon team in OT. Hats off to the Mercer Bears who fought valiantly today but were unable to sustain a three goal lead with less than 7:00 minutes to play. Cam Milligan of Vermont was huge this afternoon with three goals and two assists. UVM’s Alex Stanko also had a nice day with a hat-trick of his own to go along with one assist. Mercer was led by Lucas Wittenberg’s four points (3 Gs & 1 A). Shawn Carter, Jake Nelson, and Kevin Yoggy all had two goals each today for Mercer as well. (Ed. Note: Shout out to @CoachPerella for this wonderful #TitanicLacrosse video of UVM’s game-winner vs. Furman.)

- BU takes down Providence in double OT: The Terriers were on the ropes late in this one as Providence held a three goal lead going into the 4th quarter. However, BU was able to claw back thanks to Hayden Ruiz’s three points (2 Gs & 1 A) in the 4th to force the game into overtime. After neither team scored in the first OT, Ruiz came up big again as he found Brendan Homire for the game-winner nine seconds into the second OT. Ryan Hilburn was also clutch for BU today as he finished the game with four points (1 G & 3 As). Big shout out to both goalies today. BU’s Christian Carson-Banister finished the afternoon with 16 saves and didn’t allow a goal after the third quarter. Tate Boyce also had a very good afternoon as he finished the day with 12 saves. Providence was led in scoring by Breandan Kearns who had three goals and two assists. BU Head coach Ryan Polley gives his thoughts below about the exciting double-OT win.
Shout out to the good people at Providence for putting up video highlights from this afternoon’s game.
- Bucknell storms back: What an effort today by the Bison who overcame a five-goal second-half deficit to defeat Delaware 14-13. The Blue Hens were all over Bucknell in the first half and went into intermission up 9-6. But the Bison never gave up and thanks to 14 combined points from Will Sands (2 Gs & 5 As) & Sean O’Brien (6 Gs & 1 A) they were able to turn the tide in second half. Will Sands saved his best for the 4th quarter as he dropped 4 assists in the final stanza (3 of which were to Sean O’Brien) to help turn a 12-10 3rd quarter deficit into a 14-13 victory. Delaware was led in scoring by Charlie Kitchen (4 Gs & 2 As) & Andrew Romagnoli (4 Gs & 1 A).
- Penn State’s Mac O'Keefe’s big day: PSU Freshman Mac O'Keefe had a huge debut today as he scored seven goals to lead PSU in scoring. Grant Ament also had seven points on the afternoon (1 G & 6 As).
