The Marist Red Foxes are the 21st team in our 2018 schedule preview series and the first team from the MAAC. The Red Foxes returned to the MAAC championship game for the fourth straight season last year, but lost to Monmouth by a goal.
Here’s the entire 2018 schedule:

Off the schedule are Hartford, Holy Cross, and Princeton. In comes Bucknell, Georgetown, Maryland, and Yale. Not too shabby at all.
Earlier in the fall, we spoke to head coach Keegan Wilkinson about the team, and included some of these new additions near the end of the show, especially Maryland and Yale.
Let’s check out some notable games on this schedule:
Best Nonconference Game: @ Maryland
The Red Foxes have an excellent nonconference schedule, and it shows that the team is ready to take the next step as a program. They also got the defending national champions on the road early in the season, and it’s a midweek game. Marist has worked for an opportunity like this for many years.
Best Conference Game: @ Monmouth
The Hawks prevented the Red Foxes from another trip to the NCAA Tournament. But they lose a handful of starters this year, especially on defense. This could be a preview of the MAAC Championship game, although Canisius might have a word or two about that.
Under The Radar Game: vs. Binghamton
Along with the Terps on the nonconference schedule includes Air Force and Yale, two conference champions. But there’s other noncon games worth noting, including the Bearcats. Last year, Marist earned an 11-8 win on February 25, and the Bearcats eventually turned out to be a top 20 for part of the season. Circle that one as a game to watch, which will be played on February 25.
Possible Upset: @ Siena
The season finale last year was a crazy one in the MAAC. The Saints, who needed to beat Marist to get into the MAAC Tournament, were up 5-1 with 14:12 left in the game. But somehow, Marist scored five straight goals to end the game, including three in the final 50 seconds. The Saints started the season 0-10 before winning three straight and storming into the MAAC Tournament picture unexpectedly, before blowing a huge lead.
