Dartmouth Announces 2018 Schedule

Can the Big Green surprise the Ivy League in 2018?

Mark Washburn/Dartmouth Athletics

The Dartmouth Big Green are the 19th team in our 2018 schedule preview series and the third team from the Ivy League. The Big Green failed to win a conference game last year and have been winless in conference play since beating Harvard back on March 21, 2015.

Here’s the entire 2018 schedule:

Dartmouth’s 2018 Schedule

Gone are Navy, North Carolina, and Vermont from the nonconference schedule. In comes Boston University, St. John’s, and Virginia.

Let’s check out some notable games on this schedule:

Best Nonconference Game: vs. Wagner

Wagner was a thrilling game last season, going into double overtime down in New York. But the Seahawks took the win. The Big Green look to avenge last year’s loss with a win at home. They also play at Scully-Fahey Field just five times.

Best Conference Game: @ Harvard

Harvard was the last Ivy League opponent Dartmouth beat. That came three years ago. Can the Big Green prove to beat an Ivy League team? The closest they came to a win last year was against Penn, but they still lost by five goals.

Under The Radar Game: @ St. John’s

Long time, no see! Last time the Big Green took on the Red Storm, they weren’t even called the Red Storm. They were the Redmen, and that was back during their first run as a lacrosse team. Both teams had bad seasons last year, and the Big Green has never defeated the Red Storm. Is history in the works?

Possible Upset: @ Boston University

Early season upset in a midweek game? Why not. BU is a tough team from the Patriot League, but we should be able to expect the unexpected in these midweek games. I’m expecting BU to be good again, but might they have a slip up early? Sure.
