Sunday was awesome. Arguably the best #ScarlettSunday of the season, especially with it being Mother's Day. (Ed. Note: Shout out again to all the great moms out there.) I loved all the Selection Sunday reaction videos on Twitter as well. They really demonstrate how emotional and nerve-wracking the entire day must be for all the BOSSES & BALLERS out there.
Gives me chills. Go Lynchburg! https://t.co/A31MvkhJWL #MayMadness

Now, clearly, Selection Sunday is one of the best days of the lax calendar. We start talking about it in September, the anticipation only grows throughout the season, and it's the sole focus for the last month or so of the regular season. However, when you think about it, it's also a pretty tragic day as well. 58 52 teams were officially ushered off the island in one mass tribal council vote. Now I'm not trying to go all Sarah McLachlan on you (Ed. Note: TOO LATE!), but you gotta admit, Selection Sunday is a pretty grim day for an overwhelming majority of teams.

Additionally, Selection Sunday also means that that there are only 17 games left in 2016. This is brutal when you remember there's usually close to twice that number of games on any given week during the regular season. After the play-in games this week & Memorial Day Monday, we won't have anymore Weekday Happy Hour Lacrosse games for close to nine months. You really don't know what you got til it's gone.

The Big BBQ kind of reminds me of that burst of light just before a bulb burns out; it's radiant and beautiful but brief and then you're left in the dark for a bit. Unfortunately, unlike a light bulb, we can't go to CVS and pick up a new season he day after Memorial Day.
Anyway, that's enough Emo talk for now. I don't want to be a wet blanket on the most wonderful time of the year! Nevertheless, I thought it be opportune to give a brief shout out & farewell to all the teams that didn't get a bid to the party.
We'll miss you all!
