College Crosse Recap.
The Greyhounds are going to Philadelphia after a solid 10-8 win over Towson. Whenever the Tigers would get close, Loyola responded enough to put the game just out of reach. Indeed, Towson tied it up early in the 1st, only to see the Greyhounds go on a 3 goal run to give the Loyola some breathing room. Towson cut the deficit to 1 early in the 3rd quarter (5-6) and Loyola again went on a 3 goal run to go up by 4. Towson had a little run late in the game and were only down 2 for the final 7 minutes of the 4th quarter. However, they were unable to cut it any closer as Loyola escaped with the two goal win.
Loyola's All-Everything freshman Pat Spencer had a hat-trick and 1 assist. His teammate, Zack Sirico, was equally outstanding, and also finished with 3 goals and 1 assist. Loyola's Graham Savio was great at the dot and won 15/21 faceoffs, his stellar play really helped Loyola win the time of possession battle.
Towson's Ryan Drenner came to play and finished with 2 goals and 2 assists. Additionally, Spencer Parks and Ben McCarty chipped in with 2 goals each. Senior Tyler White had a decent game with 8 saves, but the 4 early goals in the first were difficult to overcome. Despite the loss, Towson had one of its best seasons in years and played well enough to keep the game close. Unfortunately for them, Loyola has been on a roll the last two months and were too much for the Tigers today.
