Syracuse 11 vs. Albany 9 Syracuse Recap

College Crosse Recap.

Syracuse came all the way back from being down 5-1 with 12 minutes left in the 2nd quarter to outscore the Danes 10-4 the rest of the way and advance to the 2nd round. Syracuse used a 5-1 3rd quarter run to tie the game up at 7 going into the 4th. Syracuse outshot the Dane 27-13 in the second half to keep the pressure on the Albany's defense and their goalie Blaze Riorden.

The Orange were led in scoring by Sergio Salcido. Sergio finished with 2 goals and added 2 assists on the day. While Dylan Donahue was held in check for the most part, with only 1 goal, the Orange found scoring from other sources to fuel their comeback. Jordan Evans finished with 2 goals, as did his teammate, Tim Barber (Barber also had 1 assist). Evan Molloy came up huge today as he made 12 saves, including 4 in the 4th quarter to prevent the Danes from getting on a run.

Albany gave everything they had, but fell just a bit short. The Danes were led in scoring by John Maloney, who had 2 goals and 1 assist. Additionally, super sophomore Connor Fields also had 2 goals on the night.  Despite the disappointing end, the Danes played well. Albany did well at the faceoff, winning 12/24 chances. Moreover, the Danes had 4 less turnovers than the Orange and beat Syracuse in GBs 26-21. However, Syracuse was able to make just enough plays in the 2nd half to ensure the win.
