2:00 Johns Hopkins University 13 vs. Ohio State 12 Johns Hopkins University Recap

Recap.

Johns Hopkins prevailed over (The) Ohio State University on a cloudy and cool afternoon in Baltimore. It was homecoming for Hopkins and the Jays came through for their first B1G win of the season. Ryan Brown's three goals were crucial, as Hop weathered a wild 3rd quarter and late rally by OSU. The Jays received a major assist from the Buckeyes, as an own goal by Ohio State gave Hopkins a 2 goal lead (12-10) with 2:27 left in the 3rd quarter. John Crawley gave Hop its 13th goal with 4:00 left in the game and Hopkins held on for the win, 13-12. The victory gave Hopkins its 6th win on the season (6-4) and improves JHU's B1G record to 1-1.

Besides the homecoming festivities, the day was especially dramatic for Hop fans, as Hopkins head coach, Dave Pietramala, made his return to the sidelines after a 4 week absence due to a back infection. Petro, 40 pounds lighter, got out of the hospital this week but was a game time decision. Petro made it to the show and was on the sidelines with the assistance of a scooter.

Ohio State gave Hopkins all it could handle. OSU's Johnny Pearson did major damage, as he finished the afternoon with 4 goals. Additionally, both Eric Fannell and Carter Brown scored 2 Gs and had 2 As for the Buckeyes, while Jake Withers won 18-28 at the dot. After Hopkins went up 10-6 with 10:00 left in third, the Buckeyes scored 6 of the final 9 goals of the game. But for the unfortunate own goal late in the 3rd, the Buckeyes may have been able to pull the upset. Another tough one goal loss for OSU, but they still have 3 games left to secure a spot in the Big 10 tournament.
