Game Preview.
This is a big game for the Orange as back-up goalie, Evan Molloy, may get the start over Warren Hill at Hobart tonight. While it is also possible Molloy and Hill split time, there seems to be little doubt that Molloy will see some action tonight.
Syracuse will need to find some answers tonight. After a strong start to the season, the Orange have lost their last three straight games. While the losses to Hopkins & Duke were in overtime after giving up late leads, the Fighting Irish dropped Cuse 17-7 in the Carrier Dome last weekend, giving Syracuse its 2nd ACC loss of the season.
Hobart comes into the game 5-4 and in the running for a spot in the NEC tournament. Before Hobart's loss to St. Joe's last week, the team was riding 3 game winning streak, with the last two wins coming in double and triple OT.
This will be 102nd clash between the two schools in a rivalry that dates to April 29, 1916. The teams play for the Kraus-Simmons Trophy, which has been presented to the winner since 1986. Hobart has taken the trophy home only three times (1986, 2006, and 2013).
While Syracuse has been struggling lately, they do have the the weapons to get back on track quickly. This will be a difficult game for the Statesmen, but they have played some big teams tough (1 point loss to PSU, 2 point loss to Cornell, a win over Georgetown), so the Orange better be ready. Game starts in an hour.
