4:00 Wagner 7 vs. Lafayette 12 Lafayette Recap

Beasts of the Day.

  • Lafayette's 3rd quarter run. I'm not going to lie to you, Nation, I thought we were going to have it all tonight. Wagner tied the game at 5 in the 3rd and the alarms were blaring. But the Leopards took those #LacrosseFantasy Tweets and dropped them into a very deep ditch.

Shout out to Lafayette for holding firm in the 3rd. The Leopards stared Wagner in the face and then proceeded to drop FIVE goals in a 3 minute span to turn a tie game into a 10-5 3rd quarter lead. Lafayette never looked back after that burst and controlled the pace of play through the end of the game.

  • Eric Joseph, Lafayette. Joseph went off today and took home 6 points on the afternoon (5 Gs & 1 A). Eric scored 2 goals in both the 1st and 3rd quarter and even notched his first assist of the year. The Smithtown, NY native now has 7 points in two games.

  • Jason Sands, Lafayette. A nearly historic day for the Greenwich, Conn native. Jason had 7 As on the day, one shy of the single-game Patriot League record. Sands was like a chef out there making sure everyone got to eat. Jason even found time to get an unassisted goal in the 4th.
Hitters List.
  • Ben Falcone, Lafayette. Strong game by the Lafayette goalie. Falcone made 10 saves on the day and limited the Wagner offense to 1 goal in both the 1st and 4th quarter. Ben's 4 saves in the 4th helped to stunt Wagner's comeback plans.

  • Billy Battaglia, Wagner. Billy had a very solid game in the loss to Lafayette. Battaglia had 4 points on the day (2 Gs & 2 As) and his unassisted goal in the 3rd to tie the game definitely had the Wagner faithful and a Philadelphia blogger rocking.
