Syracuse highlights

Beasts of the day:

  • Loyola Defense. Just a stellar performance by the Hounds. Though this was UVA's first game, I doubt anyone foresaw Loyola holding the Cavs to 4 total goals. No one on UVA scored more than one goal and Loyola's goalie Grant Limone made 14 saves. Great game by the Hounds on D.

  • Syracuse Offense. While Siena might not have been the stiffest of opponents, the Orange were still quite impressive on the offensive end. Syracuse's offensive weapons were locked in, as the Orange scored 10 goals in the first half before Siena even got on the board.

  • Air Force. A magnificent game by the Falcons. Though they lost, the Falcons gave Pios fans everywhere heart palpitations as Denver had to sweat out a 1 goal win on the road.

  • Robert Morris. After going down 10 goals in the first half, I bet most people turned this one off. If you were one of those people you missed a great run by RMU as they stormed back to get within 1 with 20 seconds left. The Bellarmine Knights ended up holding on for the win, but Robert Morris gave a valiant effort when most teams would've packed it in for the day.

  • This Dab!

Hitters List:

  • Dylan Gatt, Bellarmine. Great game by the Welland, Ontario product. Gatt bagged a hat-trick on only 4 shots. The Knights needed every one of his 3 first half goals as Robert Morris came all the way back after being down 10 in the first half.

  • Zed Williams, UVA. Even though the Cavs came up short today, Zed was all over the field picking up 10 GBs and 2 CTs. Good day for the UVA middie.

  • Tyler Albrecht, Loyola. The Oakville, Ontario product came away with a hat-trick on only 5 shots. Albrecht's solid play helped Loyola to a surprisingly easy win on the road.

  • Dylan Donahue, Syracuse. The number 2 MLL draft pick had an astounding game in his season opener. Dylan was simply unstoppable as he scored 4 tallies (on only 5 shots) and dished off another 5 assists. Donahue was a treat to watch and all Orange opponents better find a way to stop the kid or he's going to drop another 50 goals in 2016.

  • JT Blubaugh, OSU. Big day for the junior out of Galena, Ohio. The hometown kid busted out with 4 goals, 2 assists, and found time to grab 3 GBs. Strong day from JT.

  • Luke Goldstock, UNC. Another nice game  by the UNC attackman. Goldstock finished with 4 points on the day (3 goals & 1 assist).

  • Grant Ament, PSU. STAND UP, PHILLY! The wunderkind did it again, finishing with 3 goals and 2 assists. It looks like Penn State has a real winner on its hands.

  • Nate Marano, Denver. Another Freshman with a big day. Marano finished with 4 goals and his 2 4th quarter goals were enormous as Denver squeaked by the Falcons with a 1 goal win. Marano is the first DU player to score 4 goals in his first game since 2008.

  • Trevor Baptiste, Denver. Another huge day for the best faceoff man in the country. Trevor won 16 out 23 at the dot and was huge in the first half, winning 12 out of 14.
