Great video by High Point.
It was just six months ago, after all, that Bill celebrated an NCAA title. And it was just 18 months ago that she felt the sting of coming up one game -- one goal -- shy of that accomplishment.
Both moments came through lacrosse, a sport in which Bill is one of the best players in the college game. Good enough to have played for the United States women's national team and nearly earned a roster spot on the team that will try to win a world championship next year. But if she is less well known in soccer, and if the position she plays was largely unknown to her until recently, these Tar Heels are competing for a 22nd NCAA soccer title because she is no dabbler.
"She's one of the reasons we've had this kind of year," said Dorrance, whose team plays West Virginia in Friday's semifinals. "If she weren't with us, I can't imagine where we would be."
These awesome kids made a video to teach everyone how to “Lacrosse like a boss.”
While UGA’s men’s club team gets a lot of publicity, UGA’s women’s club team is the reigning Women’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (WCLA) national champions. The team is back with some new faces and looking to defend their title.
Regardless of the pressure from last year’s success, the team is focused on small goals to prepare for the 2017 season, with maintaining a good mentality, commitment level and sportsmanship at the top of the list.
Both Tower and Gaby Lohner, club president and captain, credited the previous season’s achievements to the team’s humble approach and hard work. Although the team aims to defend its title, the players hope to keep an unassuming mindset heading into the 2017 season.
“On the unspoken side, we definitely want to return and win a national championship, but one of our goals was not to think about that on a day-to-day basis,” Tower said. “It’s almost harder this year because we don’t feel like underdogs. We were so gracious for it and now we have to keep that mentality.”
On the drive home from the hospital two days before he died, he made his mother promise him she’d continue what he started.
“He held my hand and said, ‘Will you promise me that you will continue with the foundation so other people will benefit from my life?'” Colleluori said. “That is the promise that fuels my effort because he was so selfless. He never said, ‘why me?’ It was: ‘Let’s just help others.’”
What’s Up, Philly?
Reservation site OpenTable has revealed its list of the ‘100 Best Restaurants in America for 2016,” and three Philadelphia eateries made the cut this year. Bibou, Vetri, and Zahav were all included in OpenTable’s list, which was created using data from 10 million reviews of more than 24,000 restaurants from OpenTable users. The list, which is unranked, is presented alphabetically, and includes the top 100 restaurants based on the OpenTable reviews.
A judge in Chicago was taken off the bench for letting her law clerk “to put on her judicial robe and hear three traffic cases during the afternoon court call at the county courthouse in south suburban Markham.”
