Lacrosse the Internet: March 7, 2014

Ohio State has a big date against Hofstra, plus other important stuff.

This is obviously your favorite site, but other people actually write important stuff sometimes. Now is that sometimes.

A Full Pint

Ohio State men's lacrosse ready for 'really important game' against Hofstra
It's coming down to it for Ohio State: The Buckeyes have played one of the most difficult schedules in the country early this season but are just 1-3. How good -- relative to the rest of the country -- is Ohio State? Hofstra is in the conversation as a nationally average team, a non-tomato can that will help define what kind of team Ohio State actually is and what kind of team Ohio State can become. The Buckeyes are likely still the class of the ECAC this season, but there are still issues surrounding the program as to the Buckeyes' actual ceiling in 2014.

Greg Dutton, Ohio State's steady keeper, understands this situation and asserts that Ohio State recognizes what's on the line this weekend on Long Island:

“1-3 is not the ideal start we wanted to have,” Dutton said. “Everything is still in front of us. Everything that we want to achieve this year is still possible. So that’s been our mental focus and we’ve been practicing hard, getting ready for a good Hofstra team.”

“It’s a really important game,” Dutton said. “To get a win on the road in a place like Hofstra, in Long Island, the hot bed of lacrosse, would be a great feeling and great for the team morale.”
