Acrosse the Lacrosse Polls: February 24, 2014

Aggregating the media and coaches polls, and generally making life terrific for everyone.

Eric Hartline-US PRESSWIRE

These pieces are usually more substantial, but as everyone is still kind of idling in the driveway, it's really hard to make internal combustion when you're just holding a can of gasoline and a bucket of screws. So, you get what you get at this point.

The media and coaches polls are out and there was both big movement in the tallies and questions at the top of each run:

  • In the media poll, Duke took home 20 first-place votes while Maryland -- after trouncing Syracuse in the Carrier Dome -- earned two first-place votes. Notable upward movers this week were Drexel (from 28th to 16th), Fairfield (from 24th to 18th), Cornell (from 19th to 15th), Virginia (from seventh to fourth), and Maryland (from fifth to second). Notable downward movers this week were Notre Dame (from fourth to 11th), Albany (from 11th to 17th), Syracuse (from second to sixth), and St. John's (from 17th to 21st).
  • In the coaches poll, Duke earned 11 first-place votes, Carolina grabbed one, and Maryland topped two ballots. Notable upward movers this week were Drexel (from also receiving votes to 15th), Maryland (from seventh to third), Johns Hopkins (from eighth to fifth), and Penn State (from 12th to ninth). Notable downward movers this week were Syracuse (from first to eighth), Notre Dame (from fourth to 11th), and Albany (from 11th to 18th).

Below is an aggregation of both the coaches and media polls. I'm holding off on featuring computer-type rankings until we get a little deeper into the season.
