Lacrosse the Internet: January 2, 2014

Nothing like starting the new year with questions about your mortality.

This is obviously your favorite site, but other people actually write important stuff sometimes. Now is that sometimes.

A Full Pint

20 Songs Turning 20 in 2014
I entered high school in the fall of 1994. That doesn't make me old, but it also means that I complain about my back and have a 401(k) plan and get travel mugs for Christmas instead of video games. The fact that these 20 songs are two decades old is frightening, if only because that means that there are college lacrosse players that weren't even alive to watch Weezer's Buddy Holly and Beastie Boy's Sabotage on MTV over and over and over and over and over. That's creepy -- at least to me -- and I'm going to go sit in the corner in the fetal position and pretend that Lisa Loeb is still the new hotness after the premiere of Reality Bites.

2013's Biggest Stories: 2 - Duke's Championship Turnaround
Here's the money quote:

The Division I season is relatively long, and the Blue Devils didn't panic. The coaching staff made defensive adjustments, pushed their senior midfield and tweaked their lineup by making top-ranked freshman attackman Case Matheis a starter. Duke then won 10 of their last 11 regular season games and earned the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament. In the tourney, they survived a wild double overtime contest against Loyola in the first round, then beat Notre Dame and Cornell before topping Syracuse 16-10 to win the program's second title.

Because it's one of my favorite things ever, remember: Duke's run to the national championship involved the Devils playing in "pick 'em" games or as an underdog (Duke wasn't favored in any NCAA Tournament game):
