Lacrosse the Internet: May 7, 2013

I'm going to grow a beard and eat pancakes.

This is obviously your favorite site, but other people actually write important stuff sometimes. Now is that sometimes.

Syracuse men's lacrosse earns top seed in NCAA Tournament, will play Bryant in first round
The Syracuse men's lacrosse team was named the top seed in the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three years Sunday and will play Bryant in the first round Sunday at 7:30 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.

Johns Hopkins' streak of 41 straight NCAA tournaments comes to an end
After 41 consecutive appearances in the NCAA men's lacrosse tournament, No. 13 Johns Hopkins was left out of the 16-team field when it was announced Sunday night. The program's run had been the longest active streak in Division I in all sports — just ahead of Miami baseball (40 straight) and Virginia men's soccer (32).

Two of college lacrosse's most explosive offenses will meet Saturday in a first-round NCAA Tournament game at the University of Denver.

Lacrosse tournament field rewards records
The NCAA selection committee kept the trend of turning the lacrosse world upside down with the field it put together for the 2013 tournament. Purists of the sport are screaming for expansion. They can’t wrap their heads around a field that doesn't include Johns Hopkins, Virginia or Princeton for the first time in history but, instead, includes Detroit. They also want to know why a North Carolina team that is ranked No. 1 in both polls is a five-seed while Ohio State is a 3 and why Cornell and Rob Pannell have to go on the road while a Penn State team that just lost to Towson is hosting Yale.

Hopkins coach Dave Pietramala: "We have no one to look at other than ourselves"
As usual, Johns Hopkins coach Dave Pietramala didn't gather his team to watch the NCAA tournament selection show Sunday night.

Team Two or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Blah

2013 Colgate Lacrosse Player Blog: Maryland for the Seniors
The last week of the season was upon us whether we liked it or not. It was going to be the last time the 2013 Colgate Raiders were together as a team. Our opponent was Maryland, but it wasn’t about who were playing but rather who we were playing with. This week was about the Raiders, and the 10 seniors who were ending their college lacrosse careers and moving on to the ranks of alumni. It was Maryland, for the seniors.

Detroit 7, Marist 6
Detroit opened the 2013 conference season with a reasonably close loss – on the road – to Marist. UDM earned revenge Friday afternoon by knocking off the Red Foxes to earn their berth into the MAAC Championship Game.
