College Lacrosse Schedule for March 18, 2013

It's Research Triangle lacrosse or bust tonight, folks!

Jim O'Connor-US PRESSWIRE

Have you ever tried to eat a dozen egg rolls in one sitting? I have and I don't recommend it. The idea sounds fairly easy at the outset: Purchase 12 egg rolls, get a pile of duck sauce, and eat them all before leaving the table. After two or three egg rolls you get the feeling that everything is going swimmingly: You're a quarter of the way through, still hungry for delicious egg rolls, and with a pile of egg rolls still in front of you -- begging to be smothered in duck sauce and rammed down your gullet -- the task at hand seems manageable. Then you get to the fifth egg roll and things start to change: The air seems thinner, you start to smell colors, and your graduate school is calling your cell phone to try and repossess your degree. Egg roll six and seven are torture, turning your stomach into an angry sea that even Hemingway could not understand. The eighth egg roll -- your last because your dignity isn't a fungible good -- is life's way of telling you that you should really re-evaluate what you're doing with your existence. So, yeah. I don't recommend trying to eat a dozen egg rolls in one sitting.

Anyway, there are two games today, with action starting late this afternoon and extending into business time tonight. Here are your highlights for the day:

  • Marist at Duke: There are two layers of questions with this sucker down in Durham: (1) Has Duke shaken off the sleepies and flipped itself into a position to charge at Championship Weekend under lacrosse's Zen master extraordinaire -- John Danowski?; and (2) Marist has been quietly setting small explosions around the country, but are the Red Foxes truly among the better 20 teams in the country despite playing a schedule ranked 59th in opponent adjusted efficiency margin? The Devils' offense remains a dynamite-lined vest and Marist's defense -- currently ranked 18th in the national in adjusted defensive efficiency -- is going to receive a stiff test today from a myriad of Duke options. This game doesn't define either team's season, but it's an interesting Monday evening matchup in mid-March.

Here's today's full schedule with links to things so that you can monitor the carnage (Wagner, unfortunately, is not in action because mental health days are good for the body as well as the head):
