Seven Stories and One Set of Beats: January 21, 2013

Welcome to CAKE week.

This is obviously your favorite site, but other people actually write important stuff sometimes. Now is that sometimes.

Alphabetical 2013 NCAA D1 Preview: Manhattan
Manhattan went 5-9 last year, which isn’t disastrous in and of itself by any means. However, the Jaspers did experience some truly tough losses, and were even blanked twice, in losses to Lehigh (13-0) and Johns Hopkins (11-0). The Jaspers got wins over Mercer, Binghamton, Providence, Detroit, and Wagner. Their 20-5 win over Wagner and 8-6 win over Detroit were probably their best efforts.

Freshman Jordan Weiss (Danville, Calif.) is featured, discussing his reasons for attending Penn State.

Alphabetical 2013 NCAA D1 Preview: Marquette
In 2012, the Golden Eagles went 0-0 in NCAA D1 lacrosse, because they didn’t exist. First year program alert!

Alphabetical 2013 NCAA D1 Preview: Marist
Marist went 6-8 in 2012, which was their worst record since 2009. The Red Foxes had been on a bit of an uptick! In 2012, they weren’t sneaking up on anyone, and played a lot of tight games, sometimes with some excellent teams! The Red Foxes lost to Maryland big (17-4), but were one goal away from Duke (11-10). They went 1-2 in OT, and 4-6 in games decided by 2 goals or less. Like I said, this team has been on an uptick, and they were right there up until the end.

Today's beats: I've been listening to a lot of CAKE lately. You will be, too, after this week.
