You guys!

It's the quarterfinals!  Eight teams remain out of a field that started with sixteen.  I know this because I watched eight teams lose last weekend.  I also saw eight teams win.  Additionally, I'm competent in basic math.

Virginia and Cornell get the weekend's events started out in Hempstead, New York.  These two teams last met down in Baltimore earlier this year in the "Face-Off Classic."  The 'Hoos walked away with an 11-9 victory.  Since then, however, the Big Red have gone on an 11-game winning streak while Virginia has gone from "great," to "good," to "oh, man, this is bad," to pretty good again.

So, I have no clue how this one is going to turn out.  The opening draw is scheduled for noon and ESPN2 has your television coverage.

Here's a quick comparison table for the game:

'HOOS-RED:  THE REMATCH
METRIC VIRGINIA CORNELL
Fun Factor 6.84 (3rd) 7.05 (2nd)
Pace 73.74 (6th) 72.27 (14th)
Adjusted Offensive Efficiency 33.86 (7th) 36.81 (2nd)
Adjusted Defensive Efficiency 24.95 (11th) 22.67 (4th)
Adjusted Efficiency Margin 8.92 (7th) 14.14 (1st)
For the record, this game rates as a 6.9547 on the "Fun Factor" scale, the best rating of the weekend.  A big reason for that is that each of these teams are rolling out some studs:

'HOOS-RED: BOMBS AWAY
PLAYER TEAM O/R A/R T.O.V.
R. Pannell Cornell 6.60 7.95 14.55 (2nd)
D. Lau Cornell 4.74 3.05 7.78 (65th)
S. Mock Cornell 6.09 0.51 6.60 (104th)
R. Lang Cornell 4.40 1.35 5.75 (139th)
S. Stanwick Virginia 4.48 5.34 9.81 (15th)
C. Bocklet Virginia 6.54 0.86 7.40 (77th)
C. Briggs Virginia 3.96 2.07 6.02 (127th)

O/R = Offensive rating (goals per 100 offensive possessions).
A/R = Assist Rate (assists per 100 offensive possessions).
T.O.V. = Total Offensive Value (points per 100 offensive possessions).

Justin is live from Hofstra today and will have some comments on the game.  Your comments are valuable as well, so leave all of those beautiful bon mots in the handy dandy commenting device.
