From Syracuse.com: “Happy Gilmore” star & Hobart alum, Christopher McDonald (he played Shooter McGavin in the Adam Sandler-led classic), was spotted at the Hobart vs. Syracuse game on Friday.

McDonald has Upstate New York roots. The 65-year-old actor was born in New York City, but grew up in Romulus and graduated from Hobart College in Geneva; he’s also a well-known Buffalo Bills fan and close friends with former quarterback Jim Kelly.

By Caroline Darney of Streaking The Lawn: UVA got back to its winning ways with a victory over Air Force yesterday.

The No. 8 Virginia Cavalier men’s lacrosse team kept rolling on Sunday afternoon, picking up a 15-5 win over the visiting Falcons from the Air Force Academy. Virginia got a balanced attack as Payton Cormier and Michael Kraus each scored three goals.

OSU made it interesting in the final minute but didn’t have enough yesterday to take down Cornell.

With time running out, Ohio State junior attackman Jackson Reid raced toward the Cornell goal, hoping to tie the game up and send it to overtime. But it was not meant to be, as Cornell goalie sophomore Chayse Ierlan made a stop to preserve the victory.

What’s Up, New PhilaJersey?

#JerseyShore: Beachgoers may need to secure their umbrellas at the Jersey Shore – or face a fine.

If you’re planning to head to the Jersey Shore this summer, make sure to have your beach umbrella secured in the sand. Otherwise, you may find yourself paying a fine. A bill introduced in the General Assembly would require beachgoers to secure umbrellas with an attachment, like tie-down straps or sandbags, to prevent them from flying off and injuring people, according to the Associated Press.
