We have a great doubleheader to end the workweek with Duke taking on Richmond & Syracuse going up against Hobart. Syracuse noted last night that today’s is on as scheduled, despite the weather concerns. Thank god for the Dome, am I right?

From Syracuse.com: Syracuse lacrosse FOGOs want to ‘dominate everybody in the country’ (and, so far, they are).

Danny Varello realized the status quo was going to change when he couldn’t beat Jakob Phaup to the ball consistently in practice. Varello, Syracuse lacrosse’s top faceoff specialist in 2018, saw the emergence of a second-year player in Phaup around this time last year.

Learn about the Kraus-Simmons Trophy that is up for grabs tonight in the Syracuse vs. Hobart game.

The Kraus-Simmons Trophy has been presented to the victor in this annual showdown every year since 1986. The trophy is named for legendary Orange head coach Roy Simmons Sr., who coached at SU from 1931-70 and won 253 career games, and Babe Kraus who compiled 208 victories at Hobart.

From Bloomberg Sports: Premier Lacrosse League adds Ticketmaster name in rights deal.

The Premier Lacrosse League has signed a sponsorship deal with Ticketmaster that includes an uncommon wrinkle in pro team sports: The company’s name will become part of the league’s official title.

From the Testudo Times: No. 7 Maryland men’s lacrosse is stuck in a habit of slow starts.

When No. 7 Maryland men’s lacrosse trailed by five goals in the fourth quarter of last Tuesday’s game against Villanova, the team remained calm. After all, the Terps had completed comebacks the previous two weeks against Richmond and then-No. 6 Penn.

Facing three of the best teams in the country, especially to start the season, is enough to strike fear into any team. Coming off of its first victory of the season last weekend, Penn men’s lacrosse will play its first game at Franklin Field to face No. 2 Penn State on Saturday.

Ohio State men’s lacrosse takes on not only its first ranked opponent of the season, but a top 10 foe in Cornell Sunday ... “They might be as potent an offense as there is in the country right now. Lettuce, cabbage or flow are a few of the colorful terms men’s lacrosse insiders use to describe the hair that falls out from the back of a helmet. And for several years, Cole Williams’ long locks were as visible as the No. 14 jersey he has worn for Johns Hopkins.

From Onward State: Penn State’s loss to Yale reveals telling offensive weaknesses.

Penn State men’s lacrosse faced its first real test of the 2020 season last Saturday, when then-No. 3 Yale came to Panzer Stadium. The Nittany Lions stumbled as the Bulldogs suffocated them en route to a 12-10 victory, as well as the top ranking in the country.
